Give the Gift of Education!

We know that shopping and trying to find the right gift is hard. We invite you to give a gift that is meaningful and makes a difference in the life of a child.

With education and support from Friends of Ngong Road, our students have the opportunity to attend school, develop strong life skills, and secure employment. They transform their lives, and uplift their family and community. They are often able to leave the slums and, in most cases, help others in their family. Education not only transforms a life but also ends the cycle of poverty for generations.

This holiday season, consider giving the gift of education.

Donate to our annual appeal in honor of someone on your holiday list and we will send them a card acknowledging your gift.

Give the gift of a sponsorship. Transform the life of an individual student through the ongoing support of their school tuition and fees. You provide the funds, and your loved one develops a relationship with a student in Kenya. This is a great gift for a child or grandchild so that they learn what life is like for kids similar in age in Kenya. To gift a sponsorship this holiday season, email naomi@ngongroad.org or call 612-568-4299.

Help us reach our fundraising goal

Please donate today. We have raised $65,000, and have a long way to go to reach our $100,000 goal before December 31st. Your donation will help us secure the entire $100,000 match from the Ted and Kathy Truscott Challenge Grant.

Your support helps unique elements of our program like Life Skills, job preparedness, the Saturday Program and computer certification continue. These programs enhance  our students’ formal education and provide the foundation on which the students build the skills they need to succeed.

‘Wepowerment’ begins with you. Wepowerment is the spirit that empowers each student to believe in themselves and to strive to do their best. It’s the engagement of multiple communities, the “we”, that surrounds our students with the support needed to empower them to transform their lives.

Be a part of the ‘we’. Through your generosity, we can continue to support the success of our students. We know that the neediest children living in the slums of Nairobi need more than just an education to transform their lives.

Our students know that education is truly a gift. Thank you

Great Kids Looking for Great Sponsors

Brian

Brian wants to be an engineer.  He is an 11-year-old talented student, who needs a sponsor to help him continue his education and pursue his dream. Brian comes from a humble family which includes both his parents, a twin sister, and two other siblings. The financial constraints faced by Brian’s family make it challenging for them to consistently keep him and his siblings in school, let alone pay for all the other essential family needs.  Despite his family’s financial challenges, Brian remains dedicated to his education and aspires to make a difference in his community in his future.

In his spare time, Brian indulges in his artistic talents, particularly drawing. He possesses a unique gift for the arts. His favorite subject in school is creative arts.

Brian’s parents are hopeful and firmly believe that with the support of a compassionate sponsor, he can complete his studies and achieve his goals. We believe that Brian’s potential is limitless, and with the right support, he can overcome the financial barriers hindering him and get the education he deserves.

Crystal

Crystal has a passion for learning and a drive for success.  Her aspirations extend beyond the ordinary; she dreams of becoming a pilot.

Crystal is a 9-year-old inquisitive girl who has a passion for learning and a drive for success. She excels academically, consistently ranking at the top of her class. She dreams of a future where she not only contributes to aviation but also wants to be the President of Kenya.

One of Crystal’s outstanding qualities is her leadership skills. Currently serving as a school leader, she takes responsibility for her class and demonstrates determination in the face of challenges. Crystal’s father speaks proudly of her, describing her as a child with immense potential, a resilient spirit, and one who doesn’t let failure stop her. She is not one to accept setbacks passively; instead, she embraces challenges with a willingness to learn and adapt. Although she excels in most subjects, her favorite subjects are math and science. Outside the classroom, she is a talented ballet dancer.

If Crystal is sponsored, she will enroll in one of our focus schools, where she will receive the education and support needed to continue to thrive academically and pursue her dreams. Your sponsorship will not only impact Crystal’s life but will contribute to the betterment of our society by empowering a driven and capable young girl.

Pursuing a Dream of Affordable Healthcare

 affordable healthcare

My name is Faith, and I’m a 16-year-old student. I love dancing, reading novels, and playing hockey. In fourth grade, I joined the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, and because of their support, I was able to attend Nelson Mandela Academy, which is one of the Program-Focused Schools. Currently, I’m studying at Precious Blood Riruta and I am in Form 3.

I like biology and chemistry the most because they allow me to think critically. I enjoy exploring the complexities of life and trying out chemical reactions. During my free time at school, I like to read and hang out with my friends.

I want to pursue a career in medicine and help people who can’t afford expensive treatments. I plan to establish a medical facility that fully funds treatment so that everyone has access to quality healthcare. What motivates me is making a positive difference in the lives of others.

I’m determined to use my knowledge and skills to bring about change in the healthcare sector. Empathy, compassion, and dedication to serving the community are the values that drive me toward making a lasting impact. With hard work, perseverance, and the support of Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, I believe I can accomplish my dream of providing affordable healthcare for all.

Young Talent with Big Dreams

Hey! I’m Taylor, a 13-year-old with big dreams. I love drawing, football, and swimming, and my favorite meal is ugali and chicken. I live happily with my parents and two siblings. When I grow up, I want to be a soldier, artist, and professional footballer. Being a soldier is cool because I get to help people and show how much I love my country. Art is my way of expressing myself, and football? Well, that just makes me super happy!

I’ve been part of Ngong Road Children Foundation since 2021 and currently attend one of their focus primary schools in grade five. My favorite school subjects are Maths, CRE, and physical education. During my free time, I enjoy reading and playing football.

Saturday programs are the highlight of my week. I meet peers and mentors, play football, solve puzzles, and draw. It’s a day filled with fun and learning.

During school holidays, you can catch me at Elimu Hub, leveling up my computer skills, finding cool ideas for my drawings, and picking up new tricks. Thanks to Ngong Road Children’s Foundation for granting me all these awesome opportunities. I’m learning a bunch, and I’m really thankful for that! Transform a life.
